The Bible

The Bible is the word of God and the original manuscripts are absolutely true and free of errors. The meaning of Scripture does not depend on personal interpretation, but each passage of Scripture must be carefully examined in light of the rest of Scripture in order to come to a true and accurate understanding of God’s Word. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and our guide. Anyone who is willing to lose their own life and do the will of God is able, through study and meditation, to have an accurate understanding of the Word of God. When we truly understand and obey God’s Word, we have a firm and unshakable foundation for our lives.

God

We believe in one God, eternally existent as three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as revealed in the Bible. He is the all powerful, all knowing, eternal Creator of all things in the heavens and on earth and His presence pervades and transcends the universe. Though God is beyond human understanding, He desires that all men know Him personally.

The Father

The Father is the source and Creator of all things. He is righteous, holy, just and good. No man can see the Father apart from the revelation of Jesus Christ. All of the characteristics that Jesus exhibited on earth are the revelation of the Eternal Father of Creation. We address our prayers to the Father, in the Name (that is, the character, will and authority) of Jesus and by the power (under the influence and direction) of the Holy Spirit. The Father loves us deeply and sent His Son to redeem mankind and bring us back into relationship with Him.

The Son

We believe that Jesus is the Eternal Son of God, God in the flesh, the visible image of the invisible God. We believe that Jesus was both fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life and through His death on the cross, He made atonement for the sins of all of mankind. After His crucifixion, he was buried and on the third day, He was resurrected. He remained with His disciples for forty days before He ascended to heaven where He is seated at the right-hand of the Father from where He reigns forever as King of kings and Lord of lords.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that God, the Holy Spirit, will fill anyone who asks Him, provided that they have repented of their sin and placed their hope and trust in Jesus. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide through life. He enlightens us to understand the Scriptures, empowers us to live lives that are glorifying to God and fills us with the Life of Jesus. To the degree that we are submissive to the Holy Spirit, our minds will be renewed, our hearts healed, and we will be delivered from sin.

Saving Faith

We believe that because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, all who turn to Him for the forgiveness of their sins and sincerely trust Him will be saved from their sins and from the wrath of God. Sincere faith in Jesus is evidenced by a love for God and for His people that results in obedience to His word.

Sanctification

We believe that the blood of Jesus, the word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit are able to sanctify the believer entirely so that we will be cleansed completely from all inner and outward sin. We believe that this is a progressive process whereby, through obedience to the Word of God by way of the direction and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the very stain of sin is removed from the soul of the believer and we are conformed into the image of the Son of God. This sanctification process does not completely free us from the weaknesses, defects and limitations of our mortal flesh, but it does enable us to fulfill the commandment to “love the Lord with all your heart, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.”

The Believer’s Walk

We believe that it is the church’s duty to shine the light of Jesus wherever we go. By studying and sharing His word, serving in our communities and gathering to support and love one another, we worship and glorify our God and Savior as a city set on a hill.

Resurrection and The Return of Christ

We believe in the return of the Lord Jesus on the Day of the Lord that the prophets and the apostles looked forward to. We believe that, on that day, when the Lord Jesus appears in the heavens, those who belong to Him will be caught up to be with Him. Those who have died will be physically resurrected. All men, both the just and the unjust, will be raised to stand before God for judgment. The just will be with the Lord forever, the unjust will be cast into the lake of fire to suffer forever along with the devil and his angels. On that day, the Lord will cleanse the heavens and the earth with fire in order to burn up everything unclean. Thereafter, the heavens and the earth will be created anew and the believers in Christ will be with the Lord in this new creation and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.
